上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第九人民醫(yī)院創(chuàng)建于1920年，2014年11月，經(jīng)上海市人民政府同意，上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第九人民醫(yī)院與上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第三人民醫(yī)院資源整合，南北院區(qū)，統(tǒng)一布局，統(tǒng)一管理。2015年10月，上海市機構(gòu)編制委員會批復(fù)市教委同意上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第三人民醫(yī)院整建制并入上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第九人民醫(yī)院。
上海九院是一所擁有4位中國工程院院士、3個國家重點學(xué)科、9個國家臨床重點專科、4個國家211工程重點學(xué)科、國家口腔疾病臨床醫(yī)學(xué)研究中心、11個上海市重點學(xué)科和上海市臨床醫(yī)學(xué)中心等的三級甲等綜合性教學(xué)醫(yī)院。復(fù)旦大學(xué)醫(yī)院管理研究所2019年中國最佳醫(yī)院聲譽排行榜全國第24位，整復(fù)外科全國第一，口腔醫(yī)學(xué)排名全國第三，耳鼻喉科排名全國第6，骨科、眼科、生殖醫(yī)學(xué)提名。2019年度中國醫(yī)院科技影響力醫(yī)院綜合排名全國第9位，整形外科學(xué)全國第一，口腔醫(yī)學(xué)排名全國第三，耳鼻咽喉科學(xué)全國第五，眼科學(xué)全國第八。
口腔醫(yī)學(xué)、整復(fù)外科和骨科等國家重點學(xué)科在全國處于領(lǐng)先地位，骨科、牙體牙髓科、口腔頜面外科、牙周科、口腔修復(fù)科、眼科、口腔正畸科、口腔黏膜科、整復(fù)外科等國家臨床重點專科在國內(nèi)享有盛譽。九院擁有973項目首席科學(xué)家、中組部“千人計劃”、長江學(xué)者、國家百千萬人才工程、國家杰出青年等國家級人才，以及上海市領(lǐng)軍人才、上海市千人計劃等各級人才近百余人次。
截至2020年底，醫(yī)院占地面積124畝，總建筑面積24.2萬平方米。核定床位2150張，口腔綜合椅位1000張。全院職工5029人。2019年，醫(yī)院年門急診量458.26萬人次，日門急診量超1.25萬人次，年住院量超過12.88萬人次，住院手術(shù)量10.13萬人次，門診手術(shù)17.18萬人次。
上海交通大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院附屬第九人民醫(yī)院實體化建設(shè)上海交通大學(xué)口腔醫(yī)學(xué)院，并為臨床教學(xué)基地。擁有博士點、碩士點及博士后流動站，擁有博士生導(dǎo)師140名，碩士生導(dǎo)師184名。
醫(yī)院連續(xù)十四屆被評為上海市文明單位，2020年獲評全國文明單位，多次獲評“全國城市醫(yī)院文化建設(shè)先進集體”、“上海市五一勞動獎狀”等榮譽稱號。

Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital
Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital (Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine) was established in 1920. In November 2014, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the third People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine was integrated in the ninth People's Hospital，which consist of the north and south campus.
Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital is a three-grade A comprehensive teaching hospital, which has 4 Academicians of China National Engineering, 3 National Key Disciplines, 9 National Key Clinical Specialties, 4 National Key Disciplines of 211 Projects, 1 National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, 11 Shanghai Key Disciplines and Shanghai Clinical Medical Center.
The national key disciplines such as stomatology, plastic surgery and orthopedics are leading in the country. The national key clinical specialties such as orthopedics, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, oral prosthetics, ophthalmology, orthodontics, oral mucosa, plastic surgery have a good reputation in China. It also has more than 100 people of the chief scientist of the 973 project, the “Thousand Talents Plan” of the Central Organization Department, the Yangtze River Scholars, the National Talent Project, the National Outstanding Youth and other national talents, as well as the leading talents in Shanghai and the Shanghai Talent Plan.
The hospital covers an area of 124 acres by the end of 2020, with a total construction area of 242,000 square meters. 2150 beds and 1000 dental chairs were approved. There are 5,029 employees in the hospital. The number of outpatient and emergency was 4.582 million for one year，the annual hospitalization exceeded 128,000. The number of inpatient operation was 101,300 and the outpatient operation was 171,800.
There are two colleges in the hospital; one is College of Stomatology, the other is Jiuyuan College of Clinical Medicine. It has doctoral, master's and post-doctoral mobile stations, which own 140 Ph.D. supervisors and 184 M.D. supervisors.
The hospital has been rated as a civilization unit in Shanghai for 14 consecutive years, and won the honorary title of “National Urban Hospital Culture Construction Advanced Collectivity” and “Shanghai Labor Medal”.
