上海市第一人民醫(yī)院始建于1864年，史稱“公濟(jì)醫(yī)院”,，英文名Shanghai General Hospital,，為當(dāng)時(shí)國(guó)內(nèi)規(guī)模最大的西醫(yī)醫(yī)院，也是全國(guó)建院最早的西醫(yī)綜合性醫(yī)院之一,。醫(yī)院“一院兩址”,，分設(shè)虹口和松江兩部，同時(shí)全面接管嘉定江橋醫(yī)院,。新冠疫情期間,，派員任全國(guó)第一支援鄂醫(yī)療隊(duì)領(lǐng)隊(duì)和專家組組長(zhǎng),涌現(xiàn)出全國(guó)優(yōu)秀共產(chǎn)黨員、全國(guó)勞模等一大批先進(jìn)典型,，受到黨和國(guó)家以及上海市領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的充分肯定,。獲第六屆“全國(guó)文明單位”和“全國(guó)紅十字模范單位”榮譽(yù)稱號(hào)。國(guó)家三級(jí)公立醫(yī)院績(jī)效考核獲A++最高考評(píng)等級(jí),，在全國(guó)2413家三級(jí)公立醫(yī)院中位列綜合醫(yī)院類第12名,，上海第3名。
醫(yī)院現(xiàn)設(shè)北部（虹口區(qū)武進(jìn)路85/86號(hào)）南部（松江區(qū)新松江路650號(hào)）,，共占地約29.5萬㎡,。2021年醫(yī)院有職工4594人，核定床位1820張,，南北兩部臨床一級(jí)學(xué)科和醫(yī)技學(xué)科共48個(gè)。2021年醫(yī)院收治門急診患者453.8萬人次,；出院人數(shù)13.3萬,；手術(shù)人次10.7萬,。醫(yī)療服務(wù)結(jié)構(gòu)轉(zhuǎn)型下質(zhì)量與效率保持高水準(zhǔn)、穩(wěn)增長(zhǎng),。
