上海市胸科醫(yī)院創(chuàng)建于1957年，是新中國(guó)第一家以診治心胸疾病為主的三級(jí)甲等專科醫(yī)院，我國(guó)心胸外科四大先驅(qū)中的三位：黃家駟教授、蘭錫純教授和顧愷時(shí)教授，擔(dān)任首任院長(zhǎng)、副院長(zhǎng)。同年即被國(guó)家衛(wèi)生部指定為全國(guó)心胸外科進(jìn)修基地，培養(yǎng)了數(shù)以千計(jì)的心胸專科醫(yī)師，造就了“中國(guó)心胸專科人才的搖籃”。2004年冠名上海市紅十字胸科醫(yī)院，2005年成為上海交通大學(xué)附屬胸科醫(yī)院。
醫(yī)院核定床位580張，開放床位1000余張，設(shè)有10個(gè)臨床科室、10個(gè)醫(yī)技科室，病區(qū)28個(gè)，還建有SICU、CCU、RICU、日間病房、臨床研究病房和MDT病房。職工近1500人，其中正副主任醫(yī)師160余名，博導(dǎo)25名，碩導(dǎo)44名。現(xiàn)有國(guó)家級(jí)高層次人才計(jì)劃入選者近40人。
醫(yī)院聚焦胸部腫瘤與心血管疾病兩大學(xué)科群，掌握國(guó)內(nèi)疾病譜最廣、門類最全的心胸疾病診治技術(shù)。年門急診量逾85萬(wàn)人次，手術(shù)量超2萬(wàn)例，三四級(jí)手術(shù)比例90%以上，居上海市級(jí)醫(yī)院首位，食管、氣管、縱隔腫瘤手術(shù)量居全國(guó)第一，肺部腫瘤手術(shù)量居全國(guó)第二。醫(yī)院擅長(zhǎng)各類胸部疾病外科治療以及肺移植手術(shù)，微創(chuàng)外科手術(shù)技術(shù)處于全國(guó)先進(jìn)水平，達(dá)芬奇機(jī)器人胸部手術(shù)量連續(xù)多年保持單中心全國(guó)第一。在國(guó)內(nèi)最早開展肺癌的早期診斷、多學(xué)科綜合治療、靶向治療及免疫治療等前沿技術(shù)，開展最高難度（四級(jí)）呼吸內(nèi)鏡技術(shù)，在國(guó)內(nèi)率先開展超聲支氣管鏡、熒光支氣管鏡、電磁導(dǎo)航支氣管鏡、海博技術(shù)等治療肺癌，多次牽頭制訂肺癌診療相關(guān)臨床指南。醫(yī)院在復(fù)雜冠心病的內(nèi)外科治療、心肺血管結(jié)構(gòu)異常的介入治療、心臟起搏技術(shù)、心臟瓣膜手術(shù)、終末期心力衰竭內(nèi)外科綜合治療等領(lǐng)域均處于國(guó)內(nèi)領(lǐng)先地位，經(jīng)導(dǎo)管主動(dòng)脈瓣置入術(shù)、左心耳封堵術(shù)等前沿技術(shù)達(dá)國(guó)內(nèi)一流水平，房顫射頻消融手術(shù)量多年位居亞太地區(qū)前列。
醫(yī)院有上海市胸部腫瘤研究所、心肺血管轉(zhuǎn)化研究中心、中心實(shí)驗(yàn)室、生物樣本庫(kù)四大科研支撐平臺(tái)，并建有高新技術(shù)轉(zhuǎn)化園區(qū)，承擔(dān)國(guó)家863攻關(guān)課題、國(guó)家科技部重大研發(fā)計(jì)劃、國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金重點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目等國(guó)家級(jí)科研項(xiàng)目。醫(yī)院擁有獨(dú)立的臨床研究中心，建有肺癌、食管癌、縱隔腫瘤三大專病數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)，開展I期臨床試驗(yàn)、器械臨床試驗(yàn)、研究者發(fā)起的臨床研究等，牽頭腫瘤臨床試驗(yàn)數(shù)量在全國(guó)名列前茅。
醫(yī)院是國(guó)家衛(wèi)生部冠脈介入、心律失常、結(jié)構(gòu)性心臟病介入診療培訓(xùn)基地，衛(wèi)生部呼吸內(nèi)鏡培訓(xùn)基地，國(guó)家住院醫(yī)師和專科醫(yī)師規(guī)范化培訓(xùn)基地。建有達(dá)芬奇機(jī)器人手術(shù)臨床教學(xué)示范中心、腔鏡實(shí)訓(xùn)中心、心血管急救等具有專科特色的醫(yī)學(xué)模擬中心，獲RCS認(rèn)證及AHA認(rèn)證。被亞洲胸腔鏡教育委員會(huì)授予中國(guó)大陸唯一一家示范中心。

Shanghai Chest Hospital, the earliest established Grade-A tertiaryspecialized hospitals in China. The three pioneers of cardiothoracic surgery in China: Professor Huang Jiasi, Professor Lan Xichun and Professor Gu Kaishi served as the first president and vice president. It was designated as the National cardiothoracic surgery training base by the Ministry of Health, which has trained thousands of cardiothoracic specialists and became "the cradle of Chinese cardiothoracic specialist talents". In 2004, the hospital became the Shanghai Red Cross Chest Hospital. In 2005, it became the affiliated hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The hospital has 580 approved beds, more than 1000 open beds, 10 clinical departments, 10 medical technology departments, 28 wards, and also has SICU, CCU, RICU, day-care wards, clinical research ward and MDT ward. There are nearly 1500 employees, including more than 160 chief doctors and deputy chief doctors, 25 doctoral supervisors and 44 master supervisors, more than 40 National special support plan for high-level talents.
The hospital focuses on thoracic tumor and cardiovascular disease, and has mastered the diagnosis and treatment technology of cardiothoracic diseases with the widest spectrum and the most complete range of diseases in China. The annual number of outpatient and emergency visits exceeds 850000, surgery volume exceeds 20,000 cases. The proportion of Grade Ⅲ and Grade IV surgeries is more than 90%, ranking first in Shanghai hospitals. The hospital is good at the surgical treatment and lung transplantation of various chest diseases. The minimally invasive surgical technology is at the national advanced level. The amount of robotic chest surgery in Da Vinci has been ranked first in a single center in China for many consecutive years. In the earliest diagnosis of lung cancer, multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment, targeted treatment and immunotherapy cutting-edge technology, carry out the highest difficulty (level 4) respiratory endoscopic technology, take the lead in domestic ultrasonic bronchoscopy, fluorescent bronchoscopy, electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy, Haibo technology treatment of lung cancer, repeatedly lead the clinical related to lung cancer diagnosis and treatment guidelines. It takes a leading position on interventional therapy of complex coronary heart disease, comprehensive treatment of atrial fibrillation (radiofrequency ablation, left atrial appendage occlusion, anticoagulation and etc), interventional treatment of abnormal cardiopulmonary vascular structure, advanced cardiac pacing technique, end-stage heart failure and etc. The number of radiofrequency ablation surgeries of atrial fibrillation has been ranking NO.1 in the Asia-Pacific region for many years.
Shanghai Chest Hospital has the Shanghai Thoracic Oncology Research Institute, central laboratory, Cardiopulmonary Vascular Translational Research Center, bio-bank, National Drug Clinical Trial Institute and a high-tech transformation park. The hospital also undertakes the key research and development projects of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, national 863 key research projects and key projects of National Nature Science Foundation of China. The hospital has an independent clinical research center, a database of lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mediastinal tumor, and carries out phase I clinical trials, instrument clinical trials, and clinical research initiated by researchers, etc. The number of leading tumor clinical trials is among the top in China.
The hospital is the training base for interventional diagnosis and coronary intervention, arrhythmia and structural heart disease, the training base for respiratory endoscopy training of the Ministry of Health, and the national standardized training base for residents and specialists. It has built medical simulation centers with specialized characteristics such as Da Vinci robot surgery clinical teaching demonstration center, endoscopic training center, and center of cardiovascular first aid, and has won RCS certification and AHA certification. Granwarded the only demonstration center of Chinese mainland by the Asian Thoracoscopic Education Council.
