The future of healthcare and medical science will be closely connected to developments in key technological areas, and this module will provide students with a foundation in cutting-edge tools and techniques from the world of healthcare technology.
You will explore the basics of medical imaging, medical 3D printing, medical robotics and artificial intelligence. The module also aims to give you practical experience of each of the mentioned topics and an awareness of the historical developments in healthcare technology over the last 100 years.
Learning will be via pre-recorded and live lectures and tutorials. You will learn to use a range of software tools, including mechatronics simulators, basic CAD software, 3D printing software and medical imaging viewing and manipulation tools. This will be augmented with live technology demonstrations.
