Research on the Mechanism of Pelvic Floor Prolapse and the Development of Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Biomaterials.
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the descent of one or more of the anterior or posterior vaginal wall, the uterus, or the apex of the vagina.Available surgical options are reconstructive pelvic surgery with or without mesh augmentation and obliterative surgery. The unabsorbable mesh as a foreign body may cause severe complications such as pain, exposure, rejection, etc. Dr. Chen focuses on developing reconstructive biomaterials to regulate local pelvic immune response and exploring the regeneration mechanism of the biomaterials.
