Research Interests
My research interests are in the clinical study of obstetric endocrine and metabolic disorders, mainly gestational diabetes and thyroid disorders. We propose that abnormalities in the maternal endocrine system can affect fetal health. For example, low maternal free thyroxine levels can lead to increased risk of preterm birth and low birth weight and small for gestational age births, resulting in chronic diseases in the child later in life. Currently, I have been selected as the Chinese Principal Investigator of the Healthy Life Trajectories Program, aiming to seek strategies to eliminate childhood obesity and reduce adult non-communicable diseases.
