Research Interests
Qidi Wang obtained an MD degree and a Master degree in Clinical Endocrinology at Shanghai Second Medical University, and was subsequently appointed as Endocrinologist at the Endocrinology department of Ruijin Hospital in 2000. In this position, at 2001 she was selected by her hospital to Diabetes Research Center of Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) in Belgium to investigate beta cell failure in Type 2 diabetes which led to a Ph.D degree in Medical Science in 2009. Afterwards, she went back Shanghai and continued her career by combing diabetes treatment in clinic with beta cell research studies. She has got 5 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China and published more than 30 research articles on top journals, such as Nature Communications, Diabetes，Diabetologia,，JCEM. Her research topic is metabolic signal/epigenetic modification to control beta cell (de)differentiation, functional maturation and mass in type 2 diabetes.
