Research Interests
Posttranslational modifications (PTMs, e.g. ubiquitination, glycosylation and phosphorylation) of proteins are involved in the regulation of essentially every aspect of cellular process, and their dysregulations always result in a variety of diseases from cancer, heart disease to neurodegenerative disease. We are interested in the development and application of chemical tools to 1) discover novel types of PTMs mediated by endogenous reactive metabolites (Click chemistry); 2) identify readers and regulatory enzymes for PTMs (Photo-cross-linking reaction); 3) reveal the molecular consequences and underlying mechanisms of PTMs by the combination of chemical protein synthesis, genetics, bioinformatics and cellular biology.
