Research Interests
Dr. Li focused in Pathogenesis of precocious puberty in children. Precocious puberty seriously harms the physical and mental health of girls. Dr. Li focuses on exploring the pathogenesis of precocious puberty based on metabolomics and epigenetics. Intestinal metabolites can affect the initiation of adolescent sexual development through the brain-gut axis. Basing on the gut microbiota-tryptophan regulatory pathway, her research explore the mechanism of tryptophan metabolites interfering the synthesis and secretion of hypothalamic GnRH through brain-gut axis and affecting female pubertal development. In addition, focused on epigenetics, she explore the molecular mechanisms of m6A modification regulated by demethylase in the hypothalamus which affect the synthesis and secretion of GnRH and control the initiation of puberty. Also specialized in Clinical research and database establishment of disorders of sex development. Dr. Li group works to establishing a standardized multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment process for disorders of sex development. They have established a clinical research center for micropenis with hypospadias, in which they could carried out clinical research on disorders of sex development and established clinical database or biobanks.
