Research Interests
Guangjian Fan is an associate professor, Graduate Supervisor, PI and group leader. He was awarded the Shanghai Qimingxing Talent Program in 2019 and the Excellent Young Medical Talent Program of the Health Care Commission in 2018. He has long been devoted to the study of the mechanisms of tumorigenesis, drug resistance and recurrence, and has obtained the following three achievements: (i) The first demonstration in higher mammals that centrosome amplification can lead to spontaneous tumors, and the mechanisms involved; (ii) DNA damage promotes the survive of cells with extra centrosomes by increasing centrosome clustering, thus making them to be "seed" cells of tumor recurrence. (iii) Two new mechanisms for maintaining tumor cell survive by phosphorylated Sirtuins during energy deficiency: confinement of total mRNA in the nucleus reduces protein synthesis and inhibition of rDNA transcription reduces energy expenditure. He has published a series of articles, such as Cell research (IF: 38.079), Nature communications (IF: 17.694), Current biology, Oncogene, Cellular & Molecular Immunology, etc. A cumulative impact factor (IF) of 153.
