Research Interests
Dr. Hongxia Wang is the Chef the Department of Oncology and Chair of Comprehensive Cancer Center, Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.
Dr. Wang’s research mainly focuses on the molecular mechanism of cancer stem cell and tumor microenvironment in tumor recurrence, metastasis, and treatment resistance. Another current focus of her group is to improve clinical application of liquid biopsies in patients with breast cancer, including CTCs and tumor derived exosomes. In addition, her team has undertaken large, population-based studies to examine the use of novel drugs and technologies for cancer patients, especially breast cancer and pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Dr. Wang’s work has had an important impact on public health policy and has been widely recognized. In recent years, she authored more than 30 academic publications as correspondent in journals, including Cell Research, Cancer Discovery, Nature Communication, Science Advances, PNAS, Biomaterials, and Journal of Hematology & Oncology, etc. She has applied for 11 invention patents and one PCT patent. She has led or participated in four expert consensus projects by providing guidance for clinical precision medicine, and is a member of several editorial boards of renowned peer-reviewed journals.
