Research Interests
CAO Yu lab works on the principal questions in medicine and biological sciences and is dedicated to the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases threatening people’s health, such as bone diseases and diabetes. We are using cutting-edge technologies in structural biology, biochemistry, and cell biology including cryo-electron microscopy, x-ray crystallography, gene editing, and proteomics, to understand the critical molecular events occurring in important physiological and pathological processes. Currently, our focus aims at the endoplasmic reticulum functions and related metabolic pathways, including the structural and functional analysis of the macromolecular machinery involved in phospholipids synthesis and programmed protein degradations.
