Research Interests
Understanding the impact of gastrointestinal microbes on human health and disease, with a specialist interest in intestinal barrier, host-microbiome interactions, cell-based immunity in infection and inflammation. Exploring gut-liver axis signaling in intestinal failure associated liver disease, which is a serious complication of short bowel syndrome，including the cell-specific recognition and intracellular signaling events in sensing gut microbes and microbiota derived metabolites especially short chain fatty acids. Investigating energy metabolism and body composition in chronic medical illnesses, e.g., Crohn’s disease, and developing personalized nutrition support, also participating in several key clinical researches.
