Research Interests
Our lab mainly majored in developing more reliable and efficient strategies for precise germline gene editing, especially researching in the germline mitochondrial genome editing for generating mitochondrial disease models harboring human disease relevant mtDNA mutations. By using pre-antral follicle gene editing system together with the corresponding animal models and the molecular marker tools, we longitudinally traced the dynamic of the deleterious mtDNA variants during folliculogenesis and maternal-offspring transmissions. Moreover, we also try to develop the novel assisted reproduction techniques (ART), such as mitochondrial replacement technique (MRT) or Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) during the In vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure, for preventing transmission of mitochondrial diseases between generations.
