Research Interests
My research interest is to study the molecular biology of hearing and deafness via human and mouse genetics. In recent years, my research team has identified a number of new deafness-causative genes, including THOC1, DMXL2 and TBC1D24, by linkage analysis and exome sequencing of human deafness families, followed by electrophysiological, pathological and molecular studies of corresponding mouse models. Genotype-phenotype correlation has been characterized for common pathogenic variants such as the p.V37I variant in GJB2. Over 50 publications have been published in research journals as the corresponding author, and six major research grants have been received from the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
