Research Interests
My team have two major research direction. Bone and cartilage sense and responds to biomechanical stimuli towards the achievement and maintenance of a structurally appropriate structure. The first focus of our research is by using innovative three-dimensional imaging and modeling techniques to study the change of quality and microstructure of bone and cartilage during aging and disease progression.
The second line of our research is focus on mechanobiology of bone and cartilage. Using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo approaches, we study the mechanisms involved in bone and cartilage adaptation and regeneration influenced by mechanical environment, as well as how these mechanisms can be utilized in the treatment and prevention of disease and bone/cartilage tissue engineering.
