Research Interests
My overarching interests revolve around cardiovascular disease modeling and translation research into the clinic. My lab, which consists of clinicians and research scientists, uses patient human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), primary clinical samples, animal models, and bioengineering techniques to study the molecular underpinnings between aging and cardiovascular disease. We have research programs focusing on circulatory aging, myocardial aging, and microenvironment aging. Our prior work has demonstrated that structural integrity leads to telomere shortening in non-dividing cardiomyocytes and telomere reprotection through AAV gene therapy can arrest heart failure progression. The lab multidisciplinary in nature and are constantly recruiting talents.
