Research Interests
As a physician of otorhinolaryngology, I have been focusing on clinical and basic research of neuro-otology, lateral skull base surgery and hearing reconstruction for more than 20 years.
The main purpose of research is to clarify the pathogenesis and related influential factors of cerebellopontine angle(CPA) tumor, especially vestibular schwannoma (VS). VS is a kind of benign tumor which arises from the vestibular branch of the eighth cranial nerve. In its special morphology, cystic VS (CVS), which is characterized by aggressive clinical features, VS often presents a dilemma for neurotologists to choose optimal management: observation will delay the optimal treatment time, radiotherapy may increase the risk of rapid cyst expansion, and surgical resection rarely gets satisfactory postoperative functional outcomes. Therefore, the research of potential therapeutic targets and their mechanisms of VS could refine the treatment strategy of VS in the future.
