Research Interests
My lab investigates molecular mechanisms of inter-cellular signal transduction in the central and peripheral nervous system, utilizing multidisciplinary approaches including cryo-electronmicroscopy, electrophysiology, and a panel of common biophysical and biochemical approaches. These transduction processes are mediated by various membrane proteins including ion channels. Our primary focus is to uncover gating and regulation mechanisms of ion channels, whose malfunction is often associated with many neurological disorders such as chronic pain, seizure, ataxia epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease. We also seek to reveal mechanisms of pharmacological modulation of ion channels through collaborations.
