Research Interests
Prof Wang’s primary research interest is in the area of regenerative medicine e.g. mimicking the native bone regenerative microenvironment by scaffolds. His research spans bioactive materials, tissue engineering, drug delivery, materials characterisation and the interface between living and non-living matter, and is underpinned by collaborations with materials scientists and clinical experts. This work is inherently interdisciplinary, so the group is made up of a diverse cast of materials scientists, engineers, chemists, biologists and surgeons. The goal of his research is to understand the regulatory mechanisms of regenerative microenvironment dynamics and function and the mechanisms by which even subtle disturbances of these processes may contribute to repair of large physiological and pathological bone defects.
