Research Interests
The main research direction is the identification of parathyroid glands by near-infrared fluorescence. Near-infrared fluorescence is invisible light with a wavelength of about 700 ~ 1000 nm. When irradiating parathyroid, it can produce strong auto-fluorescence. The intensity of auto-fluorescence in the surrounding tissues is significantly different from parathyroid so that it is effective in identifying parathyroid. We identify parathyroid by combining the surgeon's eyes with the near-infrared fluorescence device and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of this method compared with the traditional method that is based on naked eyes of experienced doctors. The research will serve as a theoretical and practical basis for whether the machine is deserved to be widely used in clinical practice.
