Research Interests
Professor Zhao's clinical research covers the treatment of bone metastases from lung cancer and breast cancer. She has built a database containing over 8,000 bone metastases patients. Her researches on the mechanisms of bone and bone marrow metastasis are highly advanced. In basic research, she has a long-standing interest in the tumor immunemicroenvironment and cancer immunotherapy. Her works have led to important discoveries in understanding the tumorigenicity of colorectal cancer via CAFs and immunosuppressive tregs in lung cancer. In addition, Prof. Zhao is well versed in artificial intelligence in medicine, including diagnostic imaging and treatment decisions. A deep learning system for detecting spinal instability has been successfully granted a national patent.
