Research Interests
Our laboratory focuses on the development and application of genetic, genomic, and non-coding RNA-related strategies and technologies for the discovery of regulatory mechanisms in the enteric nervous system (ENS). Since Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) stands as a classic model for both multigenic inheritance and ENS development, we recruit human patients, their families, and animal models of HSCR to investigate the genetic characteristics and the regulatory networks of this developmental disorder of neuronal function. Our overall goals are to assess how the science of genetics can be used in modern clinical medicine in the era of personalized medicine.
