Research Interests
His research was in the area of osteoporosis, spinal fracture and the intervertebral disc degeneration. He proposed the concept of neurogenic osteoporosis which is distinguished from osteoporosis caused by disuse. He also reported that posterolateral bone-grafting is not necessary when a Denis type-B thoracolumbar burst fracture associated with a load-sharing score of ≤6 is treated with short-segment pedicle screw fixation. Most recently, his team found mitochondrial NDUFA4L2 protect the intervertebral disc from oxidative-induced injury and mitochondrial metabolism played an important role in the process of intervertebral disc degeneration. To date, Dr JIANG Shengdan has published over 40 scientific articles. His top 5 publication have been cited over 660 times in sum.
