Etiology of vascular diseases based on stem cells, screening of drug target and prevention and treatment research
Main academic contributions :
Confirmed the existence of resident stem/progenitor cells in the vessel wall, and accurately unraveled the cell origin, and distinct contributions of adult c-kit+ and Sca-1+ stem/progenitor cells to vascular repair and remodeling, highlighting the great significance of vascular resident stem/progenitor cells for vascular homeostasis and lesion treatment.
Uncovered the role and molecular mechanism of epigenetic regulators such as microRNAs on stem/progenitor cell-smooth muscle cell differentiation and phenotypic switching, and identified several novel therapeutic targets that could promote smooth muscle cell differentiation and reduce its pathological activation.
Revealed the role and molecular mechanism of endothelial cell differentiation from resident stem/progenitor cells involved in endothelial repair of transplanted vessels.ematurity and hereditary vitreoretinopathy.
